Náplň práce

Under the overall supervision of the National Resources Management Officer in IOM Slovakia office and direct supervision of the Head of Finance Sub-Unit; and, in collaboration with relevant units locally and at Headquarters, the successful candidate will be responsible and accountable for financial, budgetary and administrative support to the efficient office functioning.

Core Functions / Responsibilities:

  • Assist in managing financial resources in accordance with IOM rules and regulations;
  • Monitor compliance with IOM financial policies, procedures, rules and regulations;
  • Perform general ledger accounting and ensure all transactions are supported by legitimate and sufficient documentation and proper authorization;
  • Assist with monthly and yearly accounting closures;
  • Assist with preparation of budgets and other reports as required;
  • Provide regular and ad hoc financial information to support informed financial decision making;
  • Provide guidance in accounting, budget and financial related issues;
  • Monitor expenditures to ensure they remain within authorized levels;
  • Assist with overhead cost allocation;
  • Ensure disbursements are made based on proper authorizations and are supported by legitimate and sufficient documentation;
  • Monitor bank reconciliations for IOM bank accounts are regularly performed and reviewed by designated stakeholders;
  • Provide technical support and guidance to all staff regarding travel, expense claims, document retrieval, etc.;
  • Provide assistance in responding to audit queries and follow up on audit recommendations;
  • Perform other related duties as required.

Požiadavky

Education

  • High School diploma with six (6) years of relevant experience; or,
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finances, or related fields with four (4) years of relevant professional experience.

Experience

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, E-mail, Outlook; previous experience in SAP is a distinct advantage;
  • Attention to detail, ability to organize paperwork in a methodical way;
  • Discreet, details and clients-oriented, patient and willingness to learn new things; and,
  • Prior work experience with international humanitarian organizations, non-government or government institutions/organization in a multi-cultural setting is an advantage.

Skills

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, E-mail, Outlook; previous experience in SAP is a distinct advantage;

  • Knowledge of IOM accounting systems, PRISM-FI software and procedures a distinct advantage.

Languages

  • Fluency in English is required.
  • Fluency in other official IOM languages (Spanish, French) is advantageous.
